When shopping for a powder sprayer, you'll want to find one with many different features. You should also consider the type of powder coating you plan to apply to your product. Some features to consider include preheating, chemical crosslinking, and codes and regulations.

warm-up problem
If you don't have the correct Powder Coating Machine, several problems can occur. For example, your preheat process may not be consistent enough, resulting in an uneven coating. Ideally, your preheat temperature should be close to the flow temperature of the powder coating resin.

Another problem is air. During curing, air is trapped in the coating and can cause outgassing. This can damage components. Also, regenerated powder does not behave like virgin powder and does not flow through the hose. Also, it doesn't fluidize as it should, so it creates application issues.

Another issue with preheating is the amount of powder used. If the amount of powder used is higher than the number of parts, the finished coating will be uneven. It can also lead to short processes. In this case, you may need to add more powder or adjust the temperature in the preheat zone.

chemical crosslinking
If you plan to use your powder sprayer for industrial applications, you should understand the effects of chemical crosslinking. It reduces the elongation and flexibility of the finished product.
There are several methods of crosslinking polymers. For example, polyurethane powders use binder resins containing hydroxyl functional groups that react with isocyanate groups in the hardener component. These are usually introduced into the polyurethane powder in lump form and released when heated to higher temperatures.

Statutes and Regulations
To avoid fire risks, powder sprayers must comply with certain codes and regulations. These codes require the use of fire suppression systems, mechanical ventilation systems, and exhaust fans. These systems must operate during the spraying operation and for a sufficient period of time after the spraying operation is completed. The design of the mechanical ventilation system must be able to remove the vapours produced by drying the coated object or material. It must also be ensured that the painting operation is carried out in an area separate from the factory area.

Electrical safety is another important issue. High voltage circuits must be designed so that even the most dangerous powder-air mixtures will not ignite under normal operating conditions. Additionally, handheld electrostatic spray equipment must be registered with a third-party testing laboratory.

preprocessing
The pretreatment process is an important step in powder coatings. Without it, the quality of powder coatings suffers. The pretreatment process involves the use of chemical solutions with surfactants to reduce the surface tension of the part. The concentration of the solution is carefully adjusted to achieve the desired result. The residence time for the pretreatment process is typically 90 seconds. It is important that the drain area is long enough to prevent the cleaning solution from transferring to the next cycle, but short enough so that the part does not dry out.

The purpose of pretreatment is to prepare powder sprayer parts for the application process. Surfaces must be clean and treated to remove all debris and contamination. This is necessary because deposits and residues on the surface can affect the adhesion of powder coatings and therefore the final finish. Pretreatment varies according to the type of material to be applied. Common steps include cleaning, rinsing, and etching. These steps are carried out using equipment such as cleaning stations, blasting chambers and drying ovens.
